Summary

A Magical Tale About Forgiving Our Past and Believing in Our Future

The enchanting, true story of The Valkyries begins in Rio de Janeiro when author Paulo Coelho gives his mysterious master J。, the only manuscript for his book The Alchemist。 Haunted by a devastating curse, Coelho confesses to J。, "I′ve seen my dreams fall apart just when I seemed about to achieve them。" In response, J。 gives Coelho a daunting task: He must find and speak with his guardian angel。 "The curse can be broken," he replies, "if you complete the task。"

Rising to the challenge, Paulo and his wife, Cristina, drop everything, pack their bags, and take off on a forty day adventure into the starkly beautiful and sometimes dangerous Mojave Desert where they encounter more than they bargained for。 A masterful blend of the exotic locales, dramatic adventure, and magical storytelling, for which Coelho′s fictional works are renowned, this true-life account is at once a modern-day adventure and a metaphysical odyssey。

This book is so artificial and fake it makes me proud to have it made it to the end。

。。。more

Was a easy book to read, I always keep thinking what’s real and what is not。 Apparently this book was based in a real searching for his Guardian Angel。 But for me some parts were little bit odd!Anyway, I liked but again, not the best!

I thought the story would hold more weight than it did, to be honest。 Very much enjoyed the lessons written into the text, but I wish that there had been a more concrete story。 Nonetheless, Coelho remains one of my favourite authors of all time。

I stumbled upon this book at a used book store and personally probably wasn't the best introduction into Paulo' writing。 The ending and conclusion helped me understand things a bit better but it seemed a bit too fantastical and for being a short book, I struggled to stay engaged。 I stumbled upon this book at a used book store and personally probably wasn't the best introduction into Paulo' writing。 The ending and conclusion helped me understand things a bit better but it seemed a bit too fantastical and for being a short book, I struggled to stay engaged。 。。。more

I was a bit bored with this book, too religious for me。 I liked the part where Angels or God use us and objects around us to help on our path or save us from something。。。 His guardian angel causes him to lose a few seconds as he may avoid an accident or he bumps into someone he needs to see。

One of my absolutely favorite books❤️

Good read。 Thought it would be more ooo wizards and magic n shit but it was actually a bit more preachy and believe in god。 Bit of fun though and very short

There are parts of the book that brings enlightenment into my spirituality。 For example, looking into the horizon as it expands your soul, whereas if you only focus on your feet/ ground, your soul feels confined。

3/5⭐I had quite low expectations for this book, because my mom read it and said that it's no good, I read some other reviews that stated the same and also, because the last book that I read of this author was just not my cup of tea。 But I was pleasantly surprised, because this book wasn't so bad。 This book let the reader to get to know the author better and all I can say is that I didn't really like him as a person (at least the way he is in this book)。 And I am not talking about him showing his 3/5⭐I had quite low expectations for this book, because my mom read it and said that it's no good, I read some other reviews that stated the same and also, because the last book that I read of this author was just not my cup of tea。 But I was pleasantly surprised, because this book wasn't so bad。 This book let the reader to get to know the author better and all I can say is that I didn't really like him as a person (at least the way he is in this book)。 And I am not talking about him showing his vulnerable, human side and not just magus side, but I am talking about how he sometimes spoke or acted with his wife。 That just wasn't alright at some times and on the few occasions she even seemed to be afraid to tell him something, because he'll get irritated。 At least this is the impression that I got。All in all, this book had some very interesting and deep ideas that made me stop reading and think, so it was worth reading, but definitely not one of the best Paulo Coelho books。 。。。more

I can see a few reviews saying this is a disappointing read compared to the alchemist, so I'll keep it on my tbr I picked this up because the cover art, the blurb was mildly interesting After buying I realised it was the same writer as for the alchemist that I hear great things about。 So I thought I hit the jackpot。 。。。Maybe my expectations were too high?I couldn't figure out if it was based on true events or not in first few sort of chapters。。。。 literally had to Google! 2 Stars for The Valkyries (audiobook) by Paulo Coelho read by Sean Runnette。 I read the Alchemist recently and I thought it was interesting。 So I thought I’d give another book by Paulo Coelho a try。 I’m a little confused。 I was expecting another fictional story about another journey。 I didn’t realize till the end of the book, where the author explained that only a little bit of the story was fiction。 What? The Valkyries are real?I liked that the story took place near where I live。 I can picture 2 Stars for The Valkyries (audiobook) by Paulo Coelho read by Sean Runnette。 I read the Alchemist recently and I thought it was interesting。 So I thought I’d give another book by Paulo Coelho a try。 I’m a little confused。 I was expecting another fictional story about another journey。 I didn’t realize till the end of the book, where the author explained that only a little bit of the story was fiction。 What? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Although written in a different format than his other books, Coelho take a deep dive into the concept of love of both self and others and takes us, his readers on a journey to find it。 I enjoyed the backdrop of Southwest USA as the location。 I also enjoyed that the women identified as The Valkyries were the strong and capable of handling the task of walking Coelho and his wife through the exercises in order to see their angels。

My rating is purely due to my tastes alone。 I thought the Alchemist was amazing so I wanted to read more by Coelho。 This one was like pulling teeth for me to read, because it was that boring。 If you enjoy spirituality you will love this book。

I hated this book。 I rarely use that word to describe anything。 I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them, even loved 1。 This story is about an egotistical, & self righteous guy。 I really disliked Paulo in this。 His words and behaviors are cringe worthy at best and emotionally abusive at their worst。 The scene with his wife & Valhalla?! WTF?! What misogynistic claptrap。 The spiritual word salad had me rolling my eyes and throwing up a little in my mouth。 This story read like a narc I hated this book。 I rarely use that word to describe anything。 I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them, even loved 1。 This story is about an egotistical, & self righteous guy。 I really disliked Paulo in this。 His words and behaviors are cringe worthy at best and emotionally abusive at their worst。 The scene with his wife & Valhalla?! This book was a bit of an enigma and pretty tough to get through for most of it。 If you’re into Christian mythology mixed with magic and disbelief, this book is perfect for you。 It’s main focus is on magic and angels that inhabit this world, and it wasn’t really meant for me in that way。 Even though I wasn’t as interested, I stuck through to the end to an ending that I loved completely。 The rest of the book is honestly pretty average, but the end ties up a lot of the residual dissatisfaction。

Noriney Muela

Its a very interesting book, its deep but if you believe in a god and in angels and you also believe they can be manifested in many ways not only “at church” then you are going to like it and mostly because its a true story from the author itself。 I enjoyed it a lot。
